Sherley Gilfedder, 84, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026, following a brief illness.
She was born on March 29, 1942, in Marianna, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Richard Charles McFadden Sr. and Mabel Kelley McFadden.
Born and raised in Western Pennsylvania, Sherley lived a life filled with love, family, friendship, and resilience. She began her career as an airline stewardess for Alleghany Airlines and later worked as a paymaster for Pierce Associates.
In 1964, she married the love of her life, Robin "Gil" Gilfedder. Together they built a life centered on family and shared devotion, creating many cherished memories throughout their years together.
Sherley enjoyed gardening, water aerobics, and reading. She was an avid reader who especially loved romance novels by Danielle Steel. She found joy in life's simple pleasures, whether tending to her flowers, enjoying time with family, or becoming immersed in a good book.
She is survived by her son, Kevin Gilfedder; her daughter-in-law, Christine Gilfedder; her beloved grandchildren, Dylan and Hannah; her brother, Robert McFadden, and his wife, Edra; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sherley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robin "Gil" Gilfedder in 2016, and by her siblings, Richard McFadden Jr., Maxine Ottena, and Walter Wayne McFadden.
She will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, independence, and unwavering love for her family. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Family and friends will be received from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 26, 2026, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where a blessing service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 27, 2026. Internment will follow at Washington Cemetery.
