Terry E. Harroun, Sr, age 78, died in Augusta, GA on Sunday, Oct 26, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Terry was born on Mar 12, 1947, in Pontiac, MI to Claude and Geraldine (Diehl) Harroun. He enlisted in the Marine Corps and proudly served for 7 years, including two tours of duty in Viet Nam. He met his future wife, Mary Kathryn Klein, on a blind date while on leave in Pittsburgh, PA on the day man first landed on the moon. This simple date launched a marriage, and together they had three children: Terry Jr, Faith, and Stephen.
At the age of 74 he packed up what he needed or cherished, bought a truck and a camper, and lived his life’s dream of traveling the country. He loved the open road and seeing locations he’d only dreamed of, and excitedly shared pictures and tales of the places he saw and the people he met along the way.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Linda, and his wife, Kathy. He is survived by his siblings, Richard, Sandy, and Susan. In addition to his children he was a proud grandpa to Erin, Kathryn, Karin, Leah, Isaac, Anna, Liam, and Carter, and his three bonus granddaughters, Dani, Aubrie, and Taylor.
Terry will be remembered for rarely mincing words, telling long stories, having an exceptional work ethic, and being deeply involved in charitable organizations, notably the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also relished being a royal PITA, and is sorely missed.
Friends and family will be received from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Friday, November 14, 2025, at the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., Washington, where services will be held at 12PM. Interment will follow at The National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Military honors will be accorded by the Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post #175 and the United States Marines. There will also be a celebration of life on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 1 till 4 p.m., at the Pleasant Hills Church, 199 Old Clairton Road, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15236.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to or the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation or the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society.
