Thelma Jean Sanney, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026, in Washington, PA, at the age of 97. Born on February 4, 1929, in Deemston, PA, Thelma led a life rich with love and dedication to her family.
Before embarking on the beautiful journey of motherhood, Thelma worked as a box case maker for Hazel Atlas. However, the moment she married her husband, Raymond Howard Sanney, on December 1, 1950, she embraced her role as a mother and housewife wholeheartedly. Thelma was the embodiment of kindness, sweetness, and warmth; she was a wonderful mother who devoted herself to raising her sons, Charles H. (Christine) Sanney and Larry A. (Becky) Sanney, instilling in them a strong sense of family values.
Thelma's life was filled with cherished memories and moments of joy. She once appeared on a popular Pittsburgh game show called "Bowling for Dollars," which brought her much delight and laughter. Beyond her appearances on television, Thelma had a zest for life that included enjoying camping, walking, square dancing, and indulging in ceramics.
Thelma leaves behind a legacy marked by love and connection. Her grandchildren—Howard W. (Violia) Sanney, Misty (Dustin) Vanmetre, Ike Sanney, and Bernard (Melissa) Sanney—carry forward her warmhearted spirit. Her great-grandchildren, Howie, Sierra, Bernard Jr., Little Ike, Brandon, Justice, Shawn, Tiffany, Rodney, and David, along with her twelve great-great-grandchildren, represent the love that Thelma spread so generously throughout her life.
Though she faces a reunion with her beloved husband, Raymond, who passed away on November 26, 2002, as well as her three sisters and three brothers, Thelma's legacy remains alive in the hearts of those she touched. Her parents, Joseph and Emma (Gray) Caldwell, welcome her with open arms.
