Thomas Eugene Whoolery, 76, of Washington, died Sunday, September 30, 2018, in his home, following a 17-year battle with prostate cancer. He was born July 27, 1942, in Fairchance, a son of the late Kenneth “Tot” Whoolery and Harriett May Stickovitch Whoolery. Mr. Whoolery served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. For over 30 years, he worked as a coal miner for Duquesne Light Co. Mines. Mr. Whoolery and his wife were scout leaders in Bobtown, Waynesburg and Jefferson. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. On November 14, 1974, he married Gloria Jean Cavalcanteon, who died June 27, 1997. Surviving are their four children, Ginger Skrinjorich (Joe), Mildred Robuck (Andy Toothman), Tracy Quisenberry (Bruce), and Thomas F. Whoolery; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. In addition, they raised 68 foster children; many of whom remain friends with the Whoolery family today. On July 14, 2001, he married Dorothy Jean Gray Sim, who survives. Also surviving are her two children, Sharon Miles (Dan) and Richard Sim (Phyllis), three grandchildren; and four great-grandsons. In addition, he is survived by three sisters, Connie Miklusek (wife of the late John) of York, Jeanico Whoolery and Marcia Whoolery (wife of the late Rocky Coghietti), both of Roanoke, Virginia. Mr. Whoolery also leaves behind many church, high school, and work friends, including Elaine Lewis and Pamela Hysong. Friends will be received Thursday from 5 till 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 5th, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 525 Fairway Drive, Washington, PA, with Bishop Corey Long officiating. Those attending the service should meet at the church. Burial in Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Washington City Mission, 84 West Wheeling Street, Washington, PA 15301.
