October 31, 1933 — July 15, 2025

Washington

Vincent “Vince” Vella, of Washington, passed away at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, from complications of renal failure.

He was born on October 31, 1933, in California, Washington County, a son of the late Costanzia Scacciaferro and Giuseppe Vella.

Vince was a graduate of California High School and later Penn Commercial.

After graduation, he served in the United States Army from September 1954 to September 1956 from which he was honorably discharged with a Good Conduct Medal.

On September 6, 1955, Vince married the love of his life, of nearly 70 years, Marlyn J. Dillinger. Just recently, Marlyn preceded him in death by one short month.

He was employed by and retired from Brockway Glass (now Owens-Illinois) in 1988. After his retirement from Brockway and residing in New Jersey for a brief period of time, he and Marlyn moved back to Washington, where Sears Service Center employed him until 1995.

Vince was Catholic by faith and a member of Immaculate Conception Parish in Washington.

He enjoyed working on his lawn, tending to his summer vegetable garden, and doting on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. When the grandkids were around, you could find him playing ball, lawn jarts, making popcorn and root beer floats, and taking them to places of interest around the area.

Vince looked forward to yearly trips to Florida to visit with his sons and their families.

Surviving are his children, Tina Faust (Terry), Vincent J. Vella (Marylee), Mark Vella (Michelle) and Chris Ward (Jim); grandchildren Dr. Kristin L. Faust, Jordan Faust (Gary Burk), Vincent T. Vella (Brittany), Julie Sanabria (Ryan), Jessica Fairweather (Brian), Kaitlin Pascoe, Nathan Ward, and Mia Vella; great-grandchildren Olivia Ward, Blair Vella, and Braden Vella; a sister, Jean Vella; sisters-in-law Leila Dillinger and Judy Zapotosky; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his wife and parents, are his sisters, Jenny Campagna (Pete), Sara Yeri (Alex), Mary Debsky (Al), Katie Dinnen (Bill), Joesephine Hall (Fred); brothers Tony Vella (Lena), Joe Vella, and Tommy Vella; and two siblings who died in infancy.
