William “Bill” Albert Thomas, 72, of West Alexander, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2026, in his home, after a long battle with kidney cancer.
He was born on January 17, 1954, in Washington, a son of the late William P. Thomas and Mary Frances Taylor Thomas.
Bill was a 1973 graduate of McGuffey High School.
He retired from AIM Logistics, where he was employed as a truck driver for 20 years; he also worked at Griffin Carpeting, and Brockway Glass Plant #7.
He was a member of Church of Christ in Washington.
Bill enjoyed McGuffey watching football and wrestling matches, and Penn State wrestling. He was an avid Steelers fan and liked spending time at Sunset Automotive after he retired.
During the summer, Bill loved attending the Washington County Fair, helping his cousins with their cows and pigs. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and mowing grass.
Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter Presley, and attending family reunions.
On October 18, 1974, he married Debra Beabout Thomas, who survives.
Also surviving are his children Bryan A. Thomas, Jeremy S. Thomas, and Heidi N. Thomas; his granddaughter, Presley A. Marsh; his brothers Jeff P. Thomas and James R. (Josie) Thomas; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law John, Diane and Helen (Beabout), Larry and Kim (Bedilion); aunt Barbara Taylor, and uncle Jim Moore; several nieces and nephews, as well as several great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Chris and Dennis W. (Beabout), and grandparents, Alonzo (Lon) and Ida Kahlbaugh Thomas, and Ray and Bertha Opal Pattison Taylor.
Friends and family are welcomed at the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, on Monday, March 30, 2026, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 11a.m, at which time service will be conducted by Pastor John Wright.
