William "Bill" Henry Cowden

William Henry “Bill” Cowden, 70, of Hickory, died on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, in the Washington Hospital. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, a son of Marjorie Robertson Cowden, of Eldersville, and the late William K. Cowden. A graduate of Fort Cherry High School, he was a member of Eldersville United Methodist Church. Mr. Cowden served in the United States Navy from 1967 until his Honorable Discharge in 1971.  For his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. Mr. Cowden worked at Jessop/Allegheny Ludlum Company, until his retirement in 2013. Bill was a member of Hickory Fire Company, Lions Club and the Slovan VFW. He loved his three grandchildren, and enjoyed watching Survivor and western movies. On March 2, 1974, he married Diana Marie Wilkerson, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Kevin A. (Amber) Cowden, of Steubenville, OH; three half-brothers; two half-sisters; three grandchildren, Kaleb, Laney and Logan; as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Deceased are a sister, Sherry L. Karas and a brother, Kevin Cowden. Friends will be received on Monday, November 19, 2018, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, PA, where services will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Joel Peterson officiating. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.   Military Rites will be accorded at the cemetery, by the Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
