Zona Gale White

Zona Gale White, 92, of Hickory, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. She was born in Houston on March 3, 1930, a daughter of the late Jesse Bowen and Elizabeth Smith Bowen. She attended grade school in Houston and graduated in 1948 from Hickory High School. On April 28, 1950, in Houston Methodist Church, she married Harry Mac White, who died on September 13, 1995. She was a member and former Sunday School teacher at Hickory United Evangelical Presbyterian Church, a lifetime member of the Chartier Chapter No. 97 Order of Eastern Star, Buffalo Homemakers, Open Doors for the Handicapped, and Hickory High School Alumni Association. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her sister. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking, feeding the birds, and watching the sunset over the farm each evening. Surviving are her daughter, Bonnie Jane Thomas (Edward), of Burgettstown; a son, Bruce White (Cheryl), of Spring Mills, PA; three grandchildren, Nathan Thomas, Jennifer(Martin) Wall, Natalie (Eric) Green; two step-grandchildren, Nick (Carly) Brown and Michael (Kristen) Brown; greatgrandchildren, Ava Thomas and Liam Thomas, Hannah Wall, and Charlotte Wall; three step-greatgrandchildren, Lena Brown, Jon Michael Brown, and Frances Brown; a sister, Donna Lowry of Avella; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to her parents and husband, is a son, William “Bill” White, and a brother Charles Bowen. Friends will be received Sunday, March 13, 2022, from 1-6 pm in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, PA. A service will be held at Hickory United Evangelical Presbyterian Church, on March 14, 2022, at 11 am, with Pastor Lou Templeton officiating. Interment to follow in Mt. Prospect Cemetery.
