Larry D. Haught, 63, of New Stanton, died Wednesday, March 30, 2011, in his home, following a lengthy illness. He was born May 20, 1947, in Washington, a son of Lindsey R. and Catherine N. Mayne Haught. A Vietnam War veteran, Mr. Haught served in the United States Army from May 13, 1968, until his honorable discharge on August 9, 1969, as a Specialist, fourth class. He was awarded a Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, two Overseas Bars, Sharpshooter M-14 Badge and Expert M16 badge. Mr. Haught worked for several years in quality control for Volkswagen. An avid fisherman, he was a member of Jessop Club, Anawanna Club, and Hempfield Hunt Club of New Stanton. He was also a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 927 of Washington, which he transferred to Post 211 of Youngwood. Surviving are a son, Brian (Melissa) Haught; a daughter, Lisa Haught; a sister, Cathy L. Amon; five grandchildren, Kelsey, Zachary, Olivia and Hayden Haught and Maliyah Spencer; a nephew, Mark Amon of Kentucky; an uncle, William “Bill” (Barbara) Clemens; an aunt, Mona Haught; and several cousins. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 9th, in Washington Cemetery. Those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery office. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Veterans Administration Hospital, 7180 Highland Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15206.
