Charles Edward Eslep, Sr., 83, of Washington, died Sunday, September 18, 2011, in Townview Health and Rehabilitation, Canonsburg.
He was born January 13, 1928, in Natrona Heights, a son of William and Carrie Ridgeley Eslep.
Mr. Eslep served in the Navy from January 21, 1946, until his honorable discharge on December 2, 1947. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal.
Mr. Eslep was a member of Avery United Methodist Church and Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175. He enjoyed being with his family and grandchildren, playing softball and dart ball, and watching all sports.
Mr. Eslep was a crane man at McGraw-Edison for 20 years.
On February 3, 1951, he married Clara Daum Eslep, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Dennis C. (Gwendolynn) Eslep of Scottdale, and Charles E. (Jill) Eslep, Jr., of Washington; a sister, Kay Eslep of Washington; six grandchildren, Jodi Evanoko (Drew), Kris Eslep (Jenn), Haley Depta (Bill), Cara Eslep (fiancé Justin), Nathan Eslep and Carly Eslep; and five great-grandchildren, Alexander “A.J.” Eslep, Makayla and Emma Eslep, Julia and Logan Depta.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, September 22nd, with Rev. Ruth Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. Memorial contributions may be made to Avery United Methodist Church, 1100 Gabby Avenue, Washington, PA 15301; or to Alzheimer’s Association, 1100 Liberty Ave., E201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222. Military rites will be accorded graveside by Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175.
