Anthony Belcastro, 88, of Washington, died Saturday, May 31, 2014, in the Washington Hospital.
He was born June 19, 1925, in Washington, a son of Biagio Belcastro and Rosina Pisa Belcastro.
Mr. Belcastro attended Trinity Schools and worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for more than 27 years.
His social life revolved around meeting friends at Washington Crown Center. He loved to cook and enjoyed spending time with family.
During World War II, Mr. Belcastro served in the Navy from September 4, 1943, until his honorable discharge on January 19, 1946, as a Seaman, First Class. For his service, he was awarded the Pacific Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon and World War II Victory Medal.
Mr. Belcastro was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.
On February 16, 1953, he married Norma Jean Wheeler, who died November 30, 2000.
Surviving are a son, Anthony W. Belcastro (Tamara) of Washington; four daughters, Vicky L. Gump (Terry) and Gina Peters (Donnie), both of Washington, Cheryl Kaufman (Bobby) of Merritt Island, Florida, and Kimmy Chestnut (Windell) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; a brother, Paul Belcastro (Elaine) of Washington; a sister, Mary Jane Thompson of Washington; 13 grandchildren, Anthony, Matthew, Tera, Tyler, Kip, Klint, Karah, Jake, Gabe, Jared, Bobby, Mike and Steve; and six great-grandchildren, Anthony, Alina, Henry, Helena, Kalan and Karter.
Deceased are six brothers, John, Joe, Sam, Frank, Bill, and Louie; and four sisters, Sophie, Lucy, Katy and Pearl.
Friends will be received Monday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where a Blessing Service will be held at 9 a.m., Tuesday, June 3rd. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
Memorial contributions may be made to an Alzheimer’s charity of the donor’s choice.
