Local construction worker of 50 years.
Hiram Vankirk Chadwick Jr., 68, of South Franklin Township, died unexpectedly Monday, December 14, 2009, in his home.
He was born August 2, 1941, in Washington County, a son of Hiram V. Chadwick Sr. and Florence Ealy Chadwick.
Mr. Chadwick was a construction worker for several local construction companies for more than 50 years.
He was a member of Enon Baptist Church and attended First Baptist Church in Washington.
Mr. Chadwick was a member of NRA, Horse and Mule Association and Anawanna Club and enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing.
On March 21, 1964, he married Mary Belle Ealy, who died July 25, 2008.
Surviving are a son, Brian E. (Kim Keenan) Chadwick of Washington; two daughters, Janis A. (Charles) Hickerson of Claysville and Shana R. (Douglas) Mazzotti of Bridgeville; three brothers, Herschell Chadwick and Oliver Chadwick, both of Prosperity, and Paul Chadwick of Amity; a sister, Shirley Barnhart of Waynesburg; six grandchildren, Shane Lusher, Sheldon Hancher, Caitlin and Savanna Zrimm and Matthew and Isabella Mazzotti; and two great-grandchildren, Seth Lusher and Hayden Lusher.
A brother, Gaylord Chadwick, is deceased.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 18, in First Baptist Church, Washington, with the Rev. Steven Dunlap officiating. Burial will follow in Prosperity Cemetery.
