Pete Insana, 89, of Washington, died Tuesday, March 16, 2010, peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born March 12, 1921, in Washington, a son of Frank Sam and Esther Insana.
On October 27, 1942, he entered the U.S. Army, and for his service was awarded the American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Mr. lnsana was honorably discharged April 21, 1946.
Mr. Insana was founder and owner of “Pete Insana’s Auto and Truck Repair and Towing, Inc.”
He was a member of St. Hilary’s Roman Catholic Church.
Mr. Insana enjoyed work and his family.
On November 23, 1946, he married Rose Ann Gitto, who died October 8, 1994.
Surviving are three sons, Frank (Virginia Morgan) Insana, Sam (Lou Ann) Insana, and Rick (Mary) Insana, all of Washington; three sisters, Frances Jones and Carmella Ruschell, both of Washington, and Sarah Molinetz, of Texas; eight grandchildren, Christie Weiss, Salvatore Insana II, Eileen Insana, Giovanni Insana, Jeanie Lambert, Andrea Bigley, Jessie Insana, and Rikki Insana; and four great grandchildren, Alexander and Acelyn Weiss, Richard and Jonah Lambert.
Deceased in addition to his wife and parents, are two brothers, Sam and Dominic Insana.
Friends will be received 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, March 19, 2010, in St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, 320 Henderson Avenue, Washington, with Father Thomas D. O’Neil, as celebrant.
Entombment will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery Mausoleum. Military rites will be accorded by Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
