Shirley Ann Ward, 63, of Washington, died Monday, October 5, 2009, in Southmont of Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington, following a two-year illness.
She was born May 11, 1946, in Washington, a daughter of the late Freemont and Alice Lindlay Ward.
Ms. Ward was a homemaker and enjoyed her family, bingo and flower gardening.
Surviving are her companion, Harold "Franko" Thompson; two sons, William H. Durbin of Jefferson and Keith Whipkey Durbin of Washington; a daughter, Robin E. Whipkey Collins of Washington; a brother, Gerald Ward of Washington; five grandchildren, Joseph Fields, Cheyanne Whipkey, Stormy Collins, David Collins and Preston Belcastro; three stepgrandchildren, John Roach, Emily Lawhorne and Chelsey Gray; a great-granddaughter, Alivya Price; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are her previous husband, William Melvin Durbin, and a half brother and a half sister.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, October 8.
