Clarence Frederick Wolfe

Clarence Frederick “Spud” Wolfe, 99, of Washington, died Friday, August 14, 2009, in The Washington Hospital. He was born April 9, 1910, in Washington, a son of Clarence Lee and Ola Spence Wolfe. Mr. Wolfe graduated from Washington High School and served in the Pennsylvania Reserves during the 1920’s and 30’s. Mr. Wolfe first worked at Tylerdale Tin Mill and then as an inspector at Jessop Steel from 1942 till 1972. He also worked at Suwak Trucking during the 1950’s, and from 1963 till 1967, he served as a Justice of the Peace. He last worked at GG&C as a driver for special needs school children. Mr. Wolfe was a member of Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church. On July 29, 1929, he married Rosella “Posey” Day, who died May 11, 1996. Surviving are a son, Frederick Clarence “Fred” (Shirley) Wolfe, Jr., of Ashtabula, Ohio; a daughter, Caye (Anthony T., Sr.) Adams, of Washington; nine grandchildren, Bryan, Kevin, Laurie, Heidi, Alesa, Edward, Matthew, Michelle and Anthony, Jr.; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren. Deceased are a daughter, Dona Marie Rozella; a brother, Robert Wolfe; and a sister, Dorothy Wolfe-Waters. Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 17th, with Rev. John Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
